Greens Chair

Scott designed the new dining chair for San Francisco’s iconic Greens Restaurant in honor of its 30th anniversary. The Greens Chair was inspired as much by the Buddhist ethos of its namesake restaurant as by the restaurant’s dramatic setting on the Bay, with views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Scott’s design evolved through dialogue with acclaimed chef Annie Somerville and several ordained Zen Buddhist priests, who tested all prototypes with dedicated focus. The chair embodies the restaurant’s rigorous requirements of functionality and aesthetics, and the management team agrees that it encourages mindfulness for both diners and staff.
