Like many Wowhaus projects, “Tree Trust True” was a social sculpture combining architectonic elements with ephemeral social interaction. Wowhaus made an outdoor feast table and seating from a single wind-fallen tree. As a functional, monumental sculpture sited on the grounds of the Sonoma County Museum, the table served as the architecture for a temporal gathering and tasting of foods gathered from trees reflecting the local bioregion. The event had roots in agricultural harvest feasts when extended families came together to give thanks and celebrate seasonal abundance. “Trust” and “True” have common linguistic roots in the word “Tree” this project aimed to demonstrate the perennial virtues of tree culture in contemporary life.
