Copia Kids Garden
Architecture
COPIA: The American Museum of Wine, Food & The Arts, Napa, CA • 2005
In this interactive, hands-on learning environment children are invited to use all their senses to explore an edible garden. Visitors explore seasonality and pollination via interactive dials; a zoetrope illustrates how fruit develops from a flower; “sensory sings” point out unique, ephemeral experiences that change in the garden through the seasons, and “sensory seats” feature cushions of living herbs such as thyme. Chicken and rabbit hutches are perennial favorites, as are the Bean Teepee, Gourd Tunnel and Habitat Walk.
