“Social Construction” at Southern Exposure Gallery, San Francisco, CA
"openingkit" appropriates the materials of the gallery itself - sheetrock and plywood, richly textured from years of layered patching and painting, sanding and scuffing. The cart is assembled in the DIY spirit of the non-profit gallery preparator. Cutting directly into the walls and floor of the gallery, we revealed the construction underlying the gallery facade through a composition of “openings”; these materials were used to create portable carts used for the gallery openings.
